Eating apples

Adam’s Pearmain. A distinctively shaped apple with a nutty flavour, good for a cold spot
Ashmead’s Kernel. An old Gloucestershire russet apple with a subtle flavour, keeps until March.

Beeley Pippin. An old Derbyshire variety ripening in September. Red and yellow speckled skin. SOLD OUT
Bess Pool. An old Nottinghamshire variety, attractive red skin, ripening in October and keeping until after Christmas. SOLD OUT

Beauty of Bath. The first apple, very early, ripens late July – eat it straight from the tree.

Charles Ross Dual purpose apple, can be cooked or eaten, in season in September. SOLD OUT

Discovery. A bright red, crisp early desert apple. SOLD OUT

Egremont Russet. 1872, a popular apple with a nutty flavour, self fertile, keeps until November.
Epicure. A very productive, juicy, early apple. Rarely fails to fruit. Similar flavour to Ellison’s Orange.

Fiesta. Very hardy apple, keeps till February.

James Grieve. Very juicy, sweet, early apple, thrives in many conditions.
Kidd’s Orange Red. 1924, Slightly russety red apple, aromatic lovely crisp texture and good flavour. Keeps until November.
Pitmaston Pineapple. Very small, russety fruit with a unique, honey like flavour. Ripens in October and keeps for a few weeks.

Red Falstaff. A newer variety,self fertile, very productive,good to cook or eat. Will keep well.

Ribston Pippin. Originating found in 1707, one of the few good Yorkshire apples, very well flavoured,small yellowish fruit, a triploid so need two pollinators.

Scrumptious. Very tasty early apple, frost hardy.
Sunset. Small yellowy orange fruit, very productive and sweet, keeps until November. Grows in any situation.

Tom Putt. A hardy, multi purpose apple, ok for eating, cooking or making cider.

Worcester Pearmain. Mahogany red, a reliable and hardy apple, keeps a bit longer than most earlies.

Cooking apples

Bramleys Seedling. Well known, reliable apple, keeps for a long time and makes a large tree. Triploid so needs 2 other varieties to pollinate.
Charles Ross. A dual purpose variety, a cross between Peasgood Nonsuch and Coxes Orange Pippin, eat or cook between September and October.  SOLD OUT
Lane’s Prince Albert. Makes a small tree, some degree of frost tolerance and keeps till January.
Newton Wonder. An old Derbyshire apple which keeps until May and becomes a good eating apple after being stored.

Step Over’s

These are like single tier espaliers, which can be used as attractive and productive boundaries to delineate different parts of the garden. Small number of two year old trees available.

These are two tier trees, of excellent quality,they can be used as features in a formal garden. They are also useful in small gardens where they can be trained along walls or boundaries and take up very little space. Pruning and general maintenance is very easy, so do give them a try!

Rootstocks are MM106 for apples, this produces semi dwarf trees about 7 – 8ft high.  Trees and bushes may be one or two years old, depending on availability.
